Springbank Koi Ltd started trading in March 1998 with the aim of supplying good to Hi Class Japanese Koi Carp.

We first visited Japan in May 1998 and commenced a trading relationship with our agent Megumi Yoshida, who has been involved with Koi all his working life and is a friend of most leading breeders.

Our first imports arrived in June 1998, since then we have visited and purchased Koi at least twice per year. Starting in March 2001 we opened our trade section of Koi, importing larger quantities of fish and quarantining them before selling to the trade, we will start consolidated shipments from 2002 onwards.

Currently we have 81 selling ponds containing approx 100,000 gallons of water. In addition we have a natural 'mud' pond of about 100,000 gallons containing Koi, common and mirror carp. This year the common carp have bred giving us thousands of 2"- 3" common carp which we intend to leave and monitor their progress, from an interest point of view it is possible that Koi have also bred with the common carp.

Whilst building new stock ponds and stocks of fish over the last four years we have of course been extremely active in supplying dry goods to the Koi industry and now run a busy (normally next working day) mail order business. Everything displayed on our web site is a stock item ready for immediate despatch free of charge, for orders over £50 in value, subject to the terms and conditions relating certain geographical areas and limitations on Parcel lengths. If we don't list any item you require we will always endeavor to obtain your requirements at competitive prices.

During the last four years we have noted certain "niches" of the market that are weak so we have developed our own products marketed under SBK Products. Some are completely new, other just items that no-one seemed to supply, or at least at competitive prices, so why not visit this department, there may be something you are looking for. A rapidly growing department of our company is the Pond Construction site, we have advised customers both verbally and via email with drawings and photos and guided them through the challenge of building their own pond. Sometimes visiting to fibreglass their work or install a complete filter system or both. We also undertake the complete task from initial enquiry to complete pond build and supply of the Koi on completion of the project.

Koi in Japan are brought indoors to heated greenhouses to overwinter at temperatures of around 15oC (60oF) and only endure cold temperatures when introduced into western waters. To this effect we have developed our own in pond water heat exchanger along with a very sophisticated digital thermostat to control the boiler and also install this equipment to our customers ponds.
